Meet Your Instructors
Dr Taha Amir
Taha graduated from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2018. After completing internal medicine training and obtaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2023, he commenced specialty training in Clinical Oncology in South London.
Taha has a longstanding interest in teaching, he continues to teach and mentor medical students and junior doctors during clinical placements.
Dr Laurence Baker
Laurence is an anaesthetic and intensive care doctor based in Wessex.
During his foundation training, he worked in intensive care, before completing core anaesthetic training in Wessex. His contributions to the field include published research on treatments for refractory hypoxaemia and leadership of regional quality improvement initiatives in paediatric anaesthesia equipment.
Currently, he is undertaking an echocardiography fellowship under the mentorship of the former chair of the Intensive Care Society’s FUSIC programme at a national centre for pseudomyxoma and cytoreductive surgery. This role aligns with his interests in perioperative echocardiography and major general surgery.
Passionate about medical education, Laurence regularly teaches on FRCA courses and has previously led a national teaching project focused on the new UKMLA curriculum.
